Disclosure Statement
The Ethiopian Journal of Reproductive Health (EJRH) requires that all authors, peer reviewers and editors to disclose all potential conflicts of interests in working with the EJRH.
Reviewers are expected to declare, in writing, their relationships and activities that might bias their evaluation of a manuscript and recuse themselves from the peer-review process if a conflict exists.
Editors and reviewers are also required to declare any competing interests that may help the Editor-in-Chief to take appropriate action to ensure fair and neutral review.
The Editor-in-Chief must declare any financial and/or personal conflict of interest for each submitted manuscript. Under circumstances where there is a conflict of interest to process the submission, a guest editor would process the manuscript.
Editorial decisions for manuscripts that are commissioned or solicited by the Editor-in-Chief will not be processed by the guest Editor-in-Chief. Where the Editor-in-Chief, Associate Editor, or Editorial Board member submits a paper to the journal, the policy is that another Editor on the journal will make an editorial decision. In such cases, three independent peer-review comments are required.
Author(s) should consider the following questions when completing their competing interest declaration:
Financial competing interests
- Did author(s) receive any funding from an organization that may have a financial interest in the manuscript?
- Did author(s) report/acknowledge organizations that may have a financial interest in the publication of this manuscript?
- Does the content of the manuscript relate to any patent, and has this been well acknowledged?
- Did author(s) receive any funding or salary from an organization that may hold or has applied for patents relating to the content of the manuscript?
- Do they have any other financial competing interests?
Non-financial competing interests
Are there any non-financial competing interests to declare in relation to the manuscript? Examples of non-financial competing interests include family, political, religious, and academic or any other association.
If the authors are unsure as to whether they, or one of their co-authors, have a competing interest, they should discuss this with the Editor-in-Chief.
The Ethiopian Journal of Reproductive Health (EJRH) subscribes to the general intent of the principles adopted by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) on the control of data in publications arising from sponsored research. The author submitting a manuscript for any study funded by an organization with a proprietary or financial interest in the outcome shall have access to all the data in that study, and have complete responsibility for the integrity and accuracy of the data, as well as the decision to publish.
